A Cobourg-based company is receiving $100,000 from the Ontario government to help modernize its operations through new digital technology.
Lakeland Multi-trade Inc. is receiving the funding through the Ontario Centre of Innovation’s Digital Competence Centre Technology Demonstration Program.
The investment is helping the company adopt a cloud-based Field Service Management and project management platform designed to improve how it manages projects, tracks information and works with clients.
According to the province, the technology has already improved the accuracy and efficiency of information collected in the field at client locations, including work at the Blommer Chocolate Company site in Campbellford.
The platform digitizes several workflows, including the approval of timesheets, quotations, change orders and invoices. The province says that has reduced administrative work and delays while improving transparency throughout projects.
It also provides real-time reporting and analytics covering project progress, costs and resource use, allowing the company to make faster decisions.
“Lakeland Multi-trade is a great example of a local company embracing new technology to improve how they operate and serve their customers,” Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini said.
The province says the changes are intended to help Lakeland control costs, complete projects on schedule and improve overall productivity.
Ontario announced an additional $5 million for the Digital Competence Centre in its 2026 budget, building on $20 million previously invested in the program.
The Technology Demonstration Program is designed to help small and medium-sized Ontario businesses adopt advanced digital technologies aimed at improving productivity, innovation and competitiveness.
