A new monthly program in Northumberland County aims to give caregivers, older adults and community members practical information while providing an opportunity to connect with others.
The Ontario Health Team of Northumberland is partnering with St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Cobourg to launch the Caregiver Speaker and Social Hour Series on Sept. 17.
Sessions will begin at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s, located at 240 College St., with presentations from local experts and community organizations. A social hour will follow at 2:30 p.m., allowing participants to meet and share experiences in an informal setting.
Topics will include the caregiver journey, caregiver wellness, senior-care options, aging independently, emergency preparedness, behavioural changes, and financial, legal and estate planning.
The Jan. 14 session will feature local paramedics, police and fire representatives discussing emergency planning for older adults and caregivers.
The sessions are free, but advance registration is required through the Ontario Health Team of Northumberland website.
