Northumberland County says Brook Road North will be closed for six days later this month while Canadian National Railway completes work at the rail crossing.
The closure on County Road 20, between Elgin Street East and King Street, is scheduled from Sept. 13 to Sept. 18.
Alternating lane restrictions are currently in place, but the road will need to close completely to allow the crossing upgrades to be finished safely.
Separate detours will be provided for passenger vehicles and trucks, with motorists asked to follow posted signs and allow extra travel time.
Emergency services, transit operators and school transportation providers have been notified in advance of the closure.
The county says local access will be maintained where possible, although restrictions and traffic control measures will be in place near the construction area.
Residents, businesses and motorists travelling through the area are encouraged to plan ahead and follow directions from traffic control personnel.
