Lakelands Public Health promotes reduced-cost rabies clinics

Lakelands Public Health is reminding residents about the importance of keeping pets vaccinated against rabies.

The viral disease affects the central nervous system of mammals, including people, and can be spread by animals such as bats, foxes, skunks and raccoons. Domestic animals can also transmit the disease.

Ontario requires cats, dogs and ferrets to receive rabies vaccinations at three months of age and remain up to date.

Lakelands Public Health works with local veterinary clinics to offer reduced-cost rabies vaccination clinics aimed at protecting residents and their pets.
