Port Hope police say a social media challenge led to a three-vehicle collision at a Port Hope drive-thru earlier this month.
Officers responded Sept. 6 and learned two people were riding on the outside of a vehicle at the time of the crash. One person was on the roof while another was on the hood, police said.
The driver was subsequently charged with careless driving.
Police are warning the public that participating in dangerous vehicle-related social media challenges can lead to serious injury or death. Riding on a vehicle’s hood, roof or other exterior areas also puts motorists and pedestrians at risk.
