Northumberland–Clarke MP Philip Lawrence hosted the 2026 Civic Awards at his constituency office Tuesday night where six outstanding individuals were celebrated for their contributions to the community.
Lawrence says that this is one of his official duties that truly brings a smile to his face as all of the award winners exemplify just what it means to give back to the community in a manner that is over and above the call of duty.
The award winners are as follows:
Senior Civic Awards – Margaret Hanlan and Susan Smith
Margaret Hanlan and Susan Smith have been named recipients of the 2026 Senior Civic Award for their dedication to the community. The pair have raised more than $5,000 for local charities through quilt-making, while also knitting baby caps and blankets for newborns in local hospitals.

Jeff Halligan has been named the 2026 Arts & Culture Civic Award recipient for his commitment to helping local youth pursue the arts. Volunteer Civic Award – Rose Wilton
Rose Wilton has been named the 2026 Volunteer Civic Award recipient for her dedication to helping people in need.
