Cobourg is launching a new volunteer and civic-engagement pilot project designed to connect residents with opportunities to get involved in their community.
Called Get Involved Cobourg, the initiative is based on the Service Ballots model developed by MASS Civic Innovation Lab. Residents can complete a voluntary online form identifying their skills, interests and preferred types of community service, including events, workshops, advisory committees and other municipal initiatives.
The town says the service ballot is not connected to elections or voting. Instead, it will help match residents with volunteer and civic-participation opportunities that fit their interests.
Participants can choose to be contacted when suitable opportunities become available and can change their preferences or ask to be removed from the contact list at any time.
Residents interested in taking part can complete the form through the Engage Cobourg website.
