The Municipality of Port Hope has appointed longtime municipal planning professional Brian Bridgeman as its new interim director of development services.
Bridgeman will begin a 12-month term Oct. 13. He brings more than 40 years of experience in municipal and regional planning, development and economic growth.
Most recently, Bridgeman served as commissioner of community growth and economic development for the Regional Municipality of Durham, where he advised council and senior officials on growth management, development approvals, land-use planning and related policies.
He also led planning and economic development teams involved in tourism, transportation and community growth initiatives.
Bridgeman holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in urban and regional planning from the University of Waterloo and a diploma in public administration from the University of Western Ontario.
Port Hope CAO Mike Melinyshyn says Bridgeman’s experience and collaborative approach will benefit the municipality as it navigates future growth and development.
Bridgeman says he is looking forward to joining the municipal team and helping serve Port Hope residents and businesses.
