Nearly 100 people braved cool conditions in downtown Cobourg on Saturday for the 13th annual Kilometers for Kids, raising $25,000 for Rebound Child and Youth Services Northumberland.
Runners, walkers and cyclists gathered outside Victoria Hall on Oct. 17 to take part in the annual fundraiser, which supports programs for children, youth and families across Northumberland County.
Rebound executive director Sam Rockbrune said the organization exceeded its fundraising target, bringing in $25,000 through the community event.
Participants chose between one- and five-kilometre routes, with the event beginning at 9:15 a.m. The morning wrapped up at the Lions Pavilion in Victoria Park with food provided by the Lions Club, pumpkin painting, door prizes and Halloween costume activities.
Rockbrune said the proceeds help fund Rebound’s core programs and new initiatives, all of which are offered free of charge throughout the county.
The organization provides child and youth mental health services, youth justice programs, support through its Youth Wellness Hub and youth homelessness prevention services.
Rebound delivered more than 2,200 client services last year, highlighting the demand for its programs.
She said the strong turnout reflects how mental health services have touched many local families.
Rockbrune thanked participants and supporters for helping Rebound continue providing essential services to children and youth across Northumberland County.
