Cobourg’s Victoria Hall clock tower is undergoing more extensive restoration than expected after crews discovered significant wood deterioration hidden beneath layers of paint.
The project, funded through the town’s 2026 capital budget, includes repairing or replacing damaged woodwork and replacing the historic bell cradle.
The work was expected to cost more than the $300,000 initially allocated, with the final amount still to be determined.
