Port Hope’s 2026 Poppy Campaign began Friday, Oct. 23, with Mayor Olena Hankivsky receiving the first poppy at the town’s cenotaph.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 30 volunteers will distribute poppies throughout the community ahead of Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.
Donations collected during the campaign help support veterans and their families, while the red flower serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Canada’s military personnel.
