Northumberland County council will welcome four new members after Monday’s municipal election, with only three of seven councillors returning.
Warden Bob Crate lost his bid for a Ward 5 seat in Trent Hills, receiving 23 per cent of the vote behind winner Ethan Armit. Returning members include former warden Brian Ostrander, Cobourg Mayor Lucas Cleveland and acclaimed Hamilton Township Mayor Scott Jibb.
The new council will face decisions on homelessness services, public safety, a proposed nuclear generating station in Port Hope and the federal government’s planned ALTO high-speed rail project.
The first council meeting is scheduled for Nov. 12.
