A 30-year-old person with no fixed address is facing numerous charges following a reported theft at a Highway 401 service station in Port Hope.
Northumberland OPP say officers responded to the eastbound service centre shortly after 3 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2026. A vehicle matching the suspect’s description was spotted travelling east but allegedly failed to stop for police.
Officers later located the vehicle on Highway 401 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township and arrested the driver.
Investigators determined the vehicle had been reported stolen in Toronto and uncovered several additional alleged offences.
The accused faces charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft under $5,000, five counts of driving while prohibited, two counts of fleeing police, dangerous operation, stunt driving and excessive speeding, along with several other Highway Traffic Act-related offences.
