Port Hope has installed its first Veterans Walkway at the Augusta and Queen streets crosswalk, creating a lasting tribute to those who served and sacrificed for Canada.
The project, proposed by the Royal Canadian Legion and approved by council, features a maple leaf design made with thermoplastic to withstand winter weather and snowplows.
Deputy Mayor Adam Pearson says a second installation is planned for Dorset Street. The official unveiling is scheduled for Nov. 11, following the Remembrance Day ceremony.
