Cobourg’s Christmas season is taking shape after a 10-metre blue spruce was installed along the waterfront Thursday, Nov. 5.
The town’s largest Christmas tree was transported from Mathew and Burke streets with assistance from Northumberland Crane and Tree Services, Ironwood Tree and Landscape Services, Cobourg police and municipal parks staff.
The tree will soon be decorated with lights and ornaments, while about 100 smaller trees will also be placed throughout the area.
The installation marks the countdown to the annual Christmas Magic celebration on Friday, Nov. 20. Festivities will include a Christmas market, horse and wagon rides, downtown activities and the lighting of Rotary Harbourfront Park, Victoria Hall and Victoria Park.
The official tree-lighting ceremony is scheduled for approximately 6:15 to 6:30 p.m. at Rotary Harbourfront Park.
Organizers are encouraging residents and visitors to enjoy the festivities and support downtown businesses.
