The Belden Cobourg Senior Women’s Hockey Team were honoured by Cobourg council Monday (Aug 12).
Plaques presented to the team to recognize the team’s gold medal victory, winning the 2018-2019 Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Provincial Championship.
Trudi Stacy is one of the team captains, and she says they feel privileged the town recognized them for the win.
Not everyone was in attendence though, as many players are mothers to young children.
Stacy says there is a way you can get out on the ice too.
Stacy adds that she is very proud of the women on the team and that coaching staff really helped get them where they are today.
Cobourg’s mayor, John Henderson, says the raftors at the Cobourg Community Centre showcase many of the team’s banners as they are a hard team to beat.
