Colleges in Ontario will be able to offer Bachelor nursing degree programs without a university partner.
The current collaborative nursing model is two decades old.
The province notes that during that time, postsecondary education and health systems have grown and evolved.
Many colleges now have experience in offering stand-alone degree programs in other areas of study.
The minister of health says the new policy will ensure quality in the nursing field and help the government deliver a sustainable public health care system.
