No other employees at Cameco’s Port Hope Conversion Facility have tested positive for COVID-19.
A case was confirmed Sunday (Dec 20), and Cameco arranged for onsite rapid testing to take place Monday (Dec 21).
Cameco says according to Health Canada guidelines, no employees had close contact with the person who tested positive, but out of an abundance of caution, several employees who interactive with the person were prioritized for testing.
Additional testing for those that wanted it was made available Tuesday (Dec 22).
Cameco says all test results have come back negative and that work is already underway to safely restart the uranium hexafluoride plant.
