The first baby born in Northumberland in 2021 was welcomed by first time parents Seana Boers and Jeff Cook.
Silas Theodore Cook was born at around 7 p.m. in his family’s Port Hope home, weighing 5 pounds and 4.6 ounces.
Silas was born shortly after 7 p.m., and after midwives had concerns about a potential complication, Northumberland Paramedics took the new family to Northumberland Hills Hospital to receive care from the emergency team and the Maternal.Child Care departments.
As is tradition at NHH, Seana and Jeff will go home with a gift basket prepared from the family of the first born baby last year.
The team at NHH welcomed 583 babies in the last fiscal year, and if you’re expecting a baby in 2021, you receive support from Northumberland Hills Hospital and the Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit.
