Northumberland County is reminding you to be dig safe.
It’s Dig safe month in Ontario, which helps raise awareness of safe digging practices, improve safety and reduce damages to underground infrastructure.
As the spring digging season begins, homeowners and contractors are reminded to ‘Call or Click Before You Dig’ by contacting Ontario One Call to check for gas lines, electricity, telephone, internet and TV cables wires, or water and sewer connections in the area before breaking ground on construction, landscaping or any other digging project.
The County’s Community Flagpole will fly the Dig Safe flag from April 11 to 18.
Contact Ontario One Call before you dig: call 1-800-400-2255 or visit on1call.com. For more information about how to dig safe, visit DigSafe.ca.
