The Trash ‘N Treasures, after a 2 year hiatus, is back on August 13th and 14th, a municipality wide, community yard sale.
“It has been wonderful to see people again it’s like we all have been under rocks,” said Mayor Mandy Martin. “I have noticed that everyone is glad to see everyone again in person and to continue this 20 year tradition.”
Throughout the Municipality of Cramahe, residents will be having yard sales, during the second week of August, as they have for over 20 years.
“You can set up in your own lawn, driveway or find a public space to display your wares,” added Martin.
If you would like there is an option to set up your own tables in Victorian Square.
“We have 15 free spaces available at Victoria Square, 4 of them have been booked, so if you are needing a space to display we have spaces available, if you call right away,” said Martin. “People come from miles around to Cramahe Township to see all the treasures and for some bargains.”
There is no charge to participate, and no entry fee. You can wander the streets in Colborne and Castleton and drive throughout the municipality to find treasures.
Saturday, August 13th is the most popular day but the event runs on Sunday too. Individual sellers set their own sale hours.
The Colborne Legion has a sale set up and will also be selling hot dogs and hamburgers.
Martin reflected on her favourite treasures.
“I have purchased furniture, and I love unique chairs, but the most long standing item that I still use is an electric meat slicer,” added Martin. “There is always something that you need for sale.”
Do not forget to check on the municipal calendar, there is an art festival in September and October. The ice will return in October for public skating. The art gallery is celebrating 25 years and of course, the library has programming for all ages. https://calendar.cramahe.ca/default/Month?_mid_=7749
