A Quebec man is facing several charges after a vehicle was stolen from York Region and found in Port Hope.
On December 10 Port Hope police responded to a report of a Dodge Ram pickup idling for around 10 minutes in the area of Alfred St and Walnut St.
Police say they found the driver asleep who then gave a fake name, and after he was unable to provide any kind of ID or ownership of the vehicle, he was arrested for possession of stolen property obtained by crime.
After locating a phone number in the truck, police contacted the owner who said it was stolen from York Region.
Eventually the driver provided his real driver’s license saying he was from Quebec.
Ricardo Merone is facing theft charges as well as breaking probation orders.
