The weather had participants and supporters alike feeling the cold today at the Cobourg Marina.
While the rain wasn’t the best compliment to a dip in the icy waters of Lake Ontario, the company sure was.
That was Constable Tammy Staples from the Port Hope Police Service who was overwhelmed by the turn out.
Cobourg Police Chief Paul VandeGraaf was happy to support such a worthwhile cause.
For the new Police Chief in Port Hope, Tim Farquharson, it was great to see the parity between his former service in Peterborough and his new service here in Northumberland County.
Cobourg Police’s Constable Josalyn Hilts told us where fund raising efforts ended up.
Port Hope and Cobourg Police as well as Fire and EMS personnel took part in the plunge and though the weather was not the best, the crowd provided the warmth that sunshine couldn’t.
According to Constable Josalyn Hilts, over 23-thousand dollars was raised for Special Olympics, a reason well worth freezin’ for.
