A joint initiative between Northumberland OPP and the Ministry of Transportation will crack down on speeding, seatbelts, distracted driving, impaired driving, and Commercial Motor Vehicle enforcement along the 401.
The blitz is starting Friday.
Officials say excessive speeds and distracted driving continue to threaten the safety all road users and that drivers are reminded to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel, while focusing on driving, keeping the safety of themselves and others in mind when making decisions behind the steering wheel.
You’re being asked to slow down, drive cautiously, courteously and report dangerous drivers to OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 9-1-1 in emergency.
