With the OHL Championship celebration behind them, the Peterborough Petes are now getting ready for the Memorial Cup in British Columbia.
The team arrived in Kamloops yesterday, where they will play in their first Memorial Cup tournament since 2006 when they lost in Moncton, New Brunswick.
The get to the Cup, the Petes will have to face the QMJHL champion Quebec Remparts, the WHL champion Seattle Thunderbirds and the host team, the Kamloops Blazers.
As for how to prepare for teams they’ve never faced before, coach Rob Wilson says they’ve already been looking at video on their opponents
Wilson says it’s been a long journey for his team this post season but they’re ready to bring home the Canadian title.
Since their inception into the league in 1956, Peterborough has only won the Memorial Cup one time, back in 1979.
The Petes will play their first game on Saturday against the Thunderbirds. You can listen to that game on Oldies 96.7, Freq 90.5 and Classic Rock 107.9
Fans can also view the game at a free watch part being hosted at Quaker Foods City Square in downtown Peterborough.
