Formed in 1898 as Hamilton Township Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company, HTM Insurance kept the spirit of being neighbourly alive with a backyard BBQ celebration to mark their anniversary.
CEO Alec Harmer told us about those early beginnings.
Today HTM offers a full range of products including home and auto, as well as the protection farmers were most concerned about over 100 years ago, fire insurance.
“A lot has changed over the past 125 years since the company was founded, but the way we approach taking care of our Policyholders has never wavered: at HTM Insurance Company, ‘you’re with family’”, Harmer said.
Harmer told us that the company was formed by a group of local farmers concerned about fire insurance.
Alec went on to tell us that today you can call on HTM for insurance against wind, lightening, flooding as well as for your car and home.
There was a big turnout to celebrate HTM’s 125 Anniversary including MP Philip Lawrence, Mayor Lucas Cleveland as well as members of council.
HTM Board Chair, Nancy Brown told us they offer a full range of services for commercial and residential clients.
Attendees enjoyed the free BBQ lunch and were entertained by local favourites, The Spirits.
Each year, HTM, as a community partner, makes donations to numerous local groups. They’ve made sizable charitable contributions to local hospitals, non-profit organizations, food banks, and supported hospice groups, to name a few.
“It’s our way of giving back to, and supporting, the communities we serve.” commented Harmer, saying that HTM looks forward to being a community partner for the next 125 years, too.
