If you are asked to donate money to help wildfire victims, be careful.
Ontario Provincial Police Constable Robert Simpson says be careful with any solicitation for money.
Simpson is with the OPP in Northumberland and tells us fraudsters may pose as a charity to take advantage of good natured individuals who are looking for ways help.
The Constable says not all solicitations for a good cause are legitimate.
Simpson says local OPP have been notified by area residents about calls for money asking whether they’re legitimate.
Simpson says a legitimate charity or fundraiser will give you information about the charity’s mission, how your donation will be used and proof that your contribution is tax deductible.
