Cobourg Police Service says they feel better equipped to handle emergencies thanks to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The organization says the foundation awarded them with $25,677 to purchase a Can-Am Defender UTV. The side-by-side’s bed is also equipped with life-saving equipment.
This will help increase police presence around town, especially during peak occupancy at Victoria Park Beach. Cobourg Police say they’ve been responding to an average of six to seven missing children calls each weekend.
Police say using the UTV side-by-side will help families find police quickly to facilitate rapid missing person response and coverage of larger areas in a search scenario. It’s also expected to expand access to people to rough terrain for off-road emergencies.
