During Small Business Week, the Gonorthumberland newsroom would be remiss if we didn’t show respect to local businesses that just got their start.
Back on July 15, owner Colleen Imrie opened up CAVAN ST. Bar+Bistro. Locals would recognize Imrie as the owner of several other businesses in Port Hope: including the Nooks on Walton.
With a successful business already established, she wanted to make the Nooks into something even bigger.
Imrie believes Cavan Street might be an afterthought for some customers downtown, but her goal is to make CAVAN ST. Bistro the spot-to-be.
Now, Imrie has refined the idea into a 4,000 sq. ft. gathering space with a field-to-fork concept. Imrie also mentioned that CAVAN ST. Bistro is the largest restaurant in Port Hope.
For spirits enthusiasts reading, Imrie also mentioned a “micro bottle shop” concept, with fifteen independent breweries supplying.
Gonorthumberland asked Imrie about the Bistro’s first summer in Port Hope.
Three months later, every review on the CAVAN ST. Bistro’s Facebook page has been positive. Lots of patrons are commending the bistro for its modern aesthetic and delicious food.
Imrie says feedback has been crucial to begin developing CAVAN ST. Bistro.
