Since this summer, Cobourg has seemed to be in a constant feud with encamped residents in the Municipality.
In an interview with YourTV, Mayor Lucas Cleveland spoke about the scenario.
He went on to explain the shelter system in-place needs improvements, but county dignitaries are focused on improving the services residents have access to, but that’s nearly impossible if the system isn’t being supported by advocates and encamped residents.
Mayor Cleveland explains.
He says progress can’t be made on either side because of this. The Mayor also addresses criticisms towards elected officials, stating they’re all working with sending the same message to Infrastructure Ontario, but the problem can’t be addressed without using the structured system in place.
Mayor Cleveland estimates 12 – 14 beds left empty on a normal basis at Transition House.
