The KPR District School Board plans to expand French immersion in the county.
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is set to transition from the current extended French program to French immersion in Northumberland schools beginning in September.
Families will have increased access to French immersion at Hillcrest Public School, Brighton Public School, Murray Centennial Public School, Campbellford District High School, and East Northumberland Secondary School.
The extended French program will be available for existing students and those entering Grade 2 in the 2024-25 school year.
Trustees anticipate approval of these changes at the regular board meeting on Jan. 23.
