Responding to educational needs, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is transitioning the Ministry of Health’s Food Handler Training Certification online, with Fleming College providing an in-class option.
Certified handlers are vital for all food premises and are a requirement for all establishments offering food.
“We are committed to empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure food safety in our communities,” stated Richard Ovcharovich, Manager, Environmental Health, with the HKPR District Health Unit. “Online training reflects our dedication to providing accessible, high-quality education while meeting the diverse needs of learners.”
Course participants will learn public health laws, food safety, hygiene, and allergen management and Fleming College will offers in-person classes, ensuring flexibility through diverse training options.
