The Town of Cobourg is implementing alternative methods for residents and vendors to access municipal services amid the ongoing Canada Post strike.
Regular mail delays are impacting the delivery of notices, payments, and other correspondence.
Public meeting notices for residents within 120 metres of proposed developments will now be hand-delivered or couriered to property owners outside the town. Payments for building permits and planning applications must be made in person at the Building and Planning Department in Victoria Hall.
The Finance Department advises vendors waiting on payments to collect them from Victoria Hall during business hours or sign up for electronic funds transfer (EFT) by contacting accountspayable@cobourg.ca.
Residents are encouraged to use online options for paying property taxes, parking tickets, and by-law penalties. Alternatively, payments can be made in person, over the phone, or by using the after-hours drop box at Victoria Hall.
Delays are also expected in receiving dog tags via mail, although licences issued through DocuPet remain valid immediately.
For more information or assistance, residents can visit cobourg.ca, call 905-372-4301, or use the mail slot at Victoria Hall for time-sensitive submissions.
