The Golden Plough Lodge (GPL) redevelopment is making steady progress, promising a state-of-the-art facility for residents and staff in Northumberland County.
Located at the GPL/NCAM site, the new building is designed to provide modernised care and operational excellence.
Exterior work, including asphalt and curbs, is nearly complete, while Level 3 interior spaces are advancing with paint, handrails, and finished resident rooms. Kitchens, staff areas, and utilities like water and power are already in place, with gas service expected in early 2025. The move into the new facility is being led by Transition Lead Andrew MacCuaig, who is preparing staff and operations for the shift.
“This isn’t just a move; it’s a transformation,” said MacCuaig. Updated policies, emergency plans, and staff training will ensure a seamless transition after inspections in 2025.
Residents can expect enhanced connectivity, advanced nurse call systems, and robust safety measures, while staff will benefit from modern communication tools.
With significant federal and provincial funding supporting the redevelopment, the Golden Plough Lodge is set to redefine long-term care in the region.
