Correctional Service Canada (CSC) is once again crediting the vigilance of staff after more than $61,000 in contraband and unauthorized items were seized at Warkworth Institution.
Between Jan. 4 and 7, officials said packages containing contraband and unauthorized items, including marijuana and tobacco, were seized at the medium security federal institution.
βThe total estimated institutional value of these seizures is $61,210,β reported officials.
Correctional Service Canada continues to maintain heightened measures and use multiple tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions, inclusive of ion scanners and drug-detector dogs, reiterated officials.
Work in partnership with police also continues to take action against those attempting to introduce contraband into correction institutions, added officials.
CSC also maintains a tip line for all institutions, where information relating to security can be shared.
The toll-free number β 1-866-780-3784 β helps ensure that the information shared is protected and that callers remain anonymous, explained CSC.
