The Township of Alnwick/Haldimand says it is reviewing its draft 2025 budget after identifying a spreadsheet error that resulted in incorrect financial values being presented at a Jan. 27 special council meeting.
Township staff reportedly discovered an issue with the council remuneration budget line on Jan. 28 and confirmed the error the following day.
“We take the responsibility of managing public resources seriously and are committed to ensuring transparency, accuracy, and clarity in all financial matters,” said Dave Dawson, CAO and fire chief. “Staff are conducting a full review to ensure the updated budget reflects sound financial decisions.”
Mayor John Logel commended staff for their proactive response.
“I know how hard staff have been working on this budget and stand by their efforts to deliver a financially sound and realistic budget.”
The revised draft 2025 budget will be presented at a special council meeting on Feb. 10 at the Alnwick Civic Centre. The updated document will include corrections and reflect decisions from previous budget meetings.
