A 41-year-old Cobourg man has been charged with trespass by night following a suspicious person report in the town’s east end, say police.
At around 2 a.m. on Feb. 1, police responded to a call about a man allegedly seen lurking near a home in the area of King Street East and Walton Street. Security footage showed him looking into a vehicle and checking the porch area before police arrived and located him in the backyard, said police.
As a result of the investigation, police said the man was arrested and charged with one count of trespass by night under the Criminal Code of Canada.
This charge has not been proven in court.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on March 19.
