The environment will be front-and-centre for provincial election candidates in Northumberland-Peterborough South later this month.
Blue Dot Northumberland and Community Power Northumberland are gearing up to host an all-candidates forum on sustainability and the environment on Feb. 20 at Venture13 in Cobourg.
According to organizers, candidates will field questions on local and provincial sustainability and environmental issues, such as preserving agricultural land and building a proposed nuclear plant in Wesleyville, in the Municipality of Port Hope.
Attendees will also have a chance to ask candidates questions.
Doors are set to open at 6:30 p.m., with a meet-and-greet until 7 p.m.
The forum will run 7 to 9 p.m., followed by a further meet-and-greet until about 9:30 p.m.

According to Elections Ontario, confirmed candidates for the 2025 provincial election so far include: Incumbent David Piccini for the Progressive Conservatives; NDP candidate Bruce LePage, Dorothy Noronha for the Liberals, Maxwell Grove for the Green Party of Ontario, and New Blue Party candidate Joshua Chalhoub.
Election Day is Feb. 27.
