The Municipality of Port Hope has awarded Behan Construction the contract for Phase 3 of the Walton Street Reconstruction Project, marking the final stage of this multi-year infrastructure upgrade.
The tender process, which closed on February 10, 2025, evaluated bids based on project compliance, cost-effectiveness, and contractor experience. Behan Construction, a Northumberland-based company with over 60 years of experience, was selected for the project.
Phase 3 will see underground infrastructure replaced and a full road reconstruction between Cavan Street and Pine Street. Municipal staff are working with Behan Construction to finalize the construction schedule, with details to be announced soon.
To keep the community informed, the Municipality will hold a Public Information Session in late March or early April. Updates will be shared via porthope.ca and social media.
The Walton Street Reconstruction Project is aimed at modernizing the downtown core, upgrading aging infrastructure, and improving roadway conditions. Phases 1 and 2 were completed in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
