On November 24, 2024, Northumberland OPP received a report regarding the theft of a mini excavator from an address on County Road 30 in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
The caller explained that the excavator had been loaned to someone known to them under the condition that it would be returned, but the machine was never brought back. Concerned by the breach of trust, the caller reported the incident, and police initiated an investigation.
After several weeks of gathering evidence, on March 3, 2025, authorities arrested a 43-year-old resident of Trent Hills in connection with the case.
The accused has been charged with theft over $5,000.
He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
