Phase 3 of the Walton Street reconstruction project is officially underway in Port Hope, with road closures and construction activity expected to impact the downtown core.
As of Tuesday, April 1, Walton Street is closed between Cavan and Pine Streets. Construction crews are installing fencing and signage, mobilizing equipment, and preparing to lay temporary water lines in the affected area. The staging area for the project is located at 74 Queen St.
At this stage, only Walton Street is fully closed, while surrounding streets, including Queen, Cavan, Pine, Ontario, and John Streets, remain open. However, the municipality advises that short-term closures may occur as the project advances.
Residents in the construction zone are reminded that garbage pickup will continue as usual. Waste bins should be clearly labelled with an address and placed at the curb as normal. Contractors will transport the bins to a designated pickup area and return them afterward.

The Municipality of Port Hope thanks residents and businesses for their patience and co-operation as work continues to improve the downtown core.
