As Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny returns this Saturday, residents and visitors are being advised of major road closures, parking restrictions and transit changes throughout Port Hope.
Barrett Street, Cavan Street, Maitland Street and Sylvan Glen Road are among the roads affected, with closures and traffic direction changes starting as early as Friday, April 11 at 8 a.m. Most restrictions will remain in place until Saturday at 6 p.m. Key downtown roads will be closed to general traffic, with some areas restricted to event pass holders or local access only.
Parking will be limited at several key locations, including the Cavan Street Municipal lot and Optimist Park. Parking is also restricted along portions of Bedford Street and Massey Road during race hours. Vehicles in restricted areas may be towed at the owner’s expense.
Municipal transit will run free all day Saturday, but Routes A and B will be re-routed with several stops closed near Fannyville and the downtown core.
River conditions are being monitored, and final decisions on race participation will be communicated to registered teams. If necessary, the event may be postponed to April 19.
Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services also reminds attendees to stay safe and watch for drones monitoring the river.
