Ganaraska Forest trails are reopening to hikers and hunters as of April 18, well ahead of the broader opening at the forest for all recreational users effective May 1.
However, the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) is urging all to exercise caution on trails, as blockages and debris remain following the ice storm and recent severe weather.
GRCA staff continue to work at clearing trails as the weather and ground conditions permit, noted officials.
Users are encouraged to also watch for overhead hazards and report trail blockages via email at volunteer@grca.on.ca with a rough location.
Staff noted that screenshots from the Field Maps app, using the Ganaraska Forest Trails Map, and what3words app can help locate blockages quicker.
