A Canadian voice AI company has won top honours in the 2025 Pitch to the Chief competition, held Monday morning at Venture13 in Cobourg.
Hyper was named the winner of the annual event, hosted by the V13 Policetech Accelerator, a partnership between the Cobourg Police Service and Nventure. The competition connects early-stage companies with police leaders from across Ontario, focusing this year on technology that reduces administrative burden and supports frontline officers.
“This year’s finalists presented a powerful set of solutions that reflect the growing importance of innovation in policing,” said Cobourg Police Chief Paul VandeGraaf. “Hyper’s solution stood out for its ability to immediately enhance frontline operations and build community trust.”
Hyper’s AI technology manages non-emergency calls for service, helping to reduce wait times and ease strain on communications teams. The pitch, delivered by Chief of Staff Manu Agnihotri, earned a $30,000 Grand Prize Package, including a pilot project opportunity with the V13 Policetech Accelerator.
Six finalists were selected by Deputy Chief Jeff Haskins and were given the opportunity to pitch to a panel of Ontario police chiefs, including VandeGraaf, Stuart Betts (Peterborough), Michael Pearce (LaSalle), and Derek Davis (Sarnia).
“This event showcases the incredible value of bringing policing systems and entrepreneurs together,” said Wendy Curtis, CEO of Nventure. “Our goal is to empower scalable, real-world solutions that benefit the police and the communities they serve.”
Hosted at Venture13, the V13 Policetech Accelerator is partially funded by the Ontario Ministry of Rural Affairs through the Rural Economic Development Program.
