A quartet of Cobourg residents are facing charges following a disturbance reported downtown last week.
Cobourg Police say officers were called to the area behind a downtown business on Tuesday, May 13, at about 6:30 p.m. after several 911 calls reported a group of people yelling and assaulting a female.
By the time police arrived, the group had left the scene. The victim had minor injuries but declined to proceed with an assault investigation.
A separate investigation into causing a disturbance was launched, and between May 17 and 18, four individuals were arrested.
A 34-year-old woman, a 40-year-old man, a 41-year-old man, and a 41-year-old woman – all from Cobourg – were jointly charged with causing a disturbance.
Police say the 34-year-old woman, the 40-year-old man, and the 41-year-old man were also charged with failing to comply with a probation order. The 41-year-old woman was additionally charged with breaching a recognizance to keep the peace.
All four were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on June 25, 2025.
Police have not released the names of the accused to protect the privacy of the victim and due to the nature of the charges.
