The Town of Cobourg is inviting residents to a public information centre on Thursday, May 29, to provide input on future road needs in the town’s southeast quadrant.
The session, scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre (Spoolon Room), is part of an Integrated Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process. The study supports a 40-hectare proposed mixed-use development east of Brook Road North and north of the rail line.
The study will evaluate future needs for arterial and collector roads, rail line crossings, and access to support growth and traffic flow in the area. It builds on the Town’s Official Plan, Transportation Master Plan, and other key documents.
The EA is a joint effort between JMCD North Holdings Inc., the Town of Cobourg, and Northumberland County. Public engagement is a key component of the process, which also includes input from developers, agencies, and Indigenous communities.
The goal is to find a preferred road network solution that considers technical, cultural, environmental, and financial factors.
Residents can attend the drop-in session to learn more and share their feedback with project team members. Materials will also be available online at cobourg.ca following the event.
Questions or comments can be submitted directly to the project team at: eastvillagenorthroadnetwork@rjburnside.com.
