Long-time Community Care Northumberland (CCN) CEO Trish Baird is retiring after 36 years of leadership.
Baird is set to retire at the end of this year in December.
“It has been an honour to work in this organization, and more importantly, a real joy working with the volunteers, fellow employees and all the communities we support,” said Baird.
Over the decades, Baird has steered CCN’s transformation from a small grassroots initiative with a team of just 12 staff and a few hundred volunteers into a $6-million not-for-profit agency, noted her colleagues, adding that today, the organization now supports residents countywide with more than 100 staffers and an army of 560 volunteers.
“This journey has been possible because of the passion, commitment and shared vision of everyone involved (including) staff, volunteers, community partners and our dedicated board,” said Baird.
Under her leadership, CCN has significantly expanded its programs and services while adapting to evolving community needs.
“Under Trish’s guidance, Community Care Northumberland has grown into a vibrant and trusted organization that touches the lives of so many,” said board chairperson Elaine Azzopardi. “Her commitment to kindness, collaboration and innovation has been a driving force behind our success.
“We are deeply thankful for her many years of devoted leadership and the profound impact she has made on our community.”
As for who will step into Baird’s role, the board of directors has reportedly engaged an executive search firm to start the recruitment process for her successor.
“As I prepare for this next chapter, I am confident that the organization is well positioned for continued success. We have a strong leadership team in place, a committed staff and a board that truly understands and champions our mission,” added Baird.
CCN said Baird will be missed and is thanking her for her decades of visionary leadership, heartfelt service and unwavering dedication.
“Her impact on the organization and the lives of those it serves will be felt for many years to come,” said CCN, in a recent release. “Her legacy is one of compassion, community connection, and a tireless commitment to ensuring that everyone across Northumberland County has access to the care and support they need.”
