The Municipality of Port Hope is bringing back its popular “Be Walton” campaign to encourage residents and visitors to shop local and embrace the vibrant downtown during the final phase of Walton Street reconstruction.
Running all summer long, the initiative features a packed schedule of arts, music, and cultural events. These include free outdoor movies, a summer sidewalk sale, live busker performances, and the return of the Road to Cultivate Concert Series. There are also hands-on experiences like the Resilient Blooms augmented reality art walk, pop-up cafés, and a staycation challenge hosted by Critical Mass.
“Be Walton is a call to action to support the businesses and services that make our town so unique,” said Port Hope Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “With exciting summer events and renewed energy downtown, there’s no better time to invite your friends and family back to experience everything Port Hope has to offer.”
The campaign is supported by a coalition of local groups including the Port Hope and District Chamber of Commerce, the Capitol Theatre, and the Heritage Business Improvement Area. It also aligns with Northumberland County’s wider Buy Local efforts through the Prosper in Northumberland initiative.
