Cobourg Police say a 24-year-old Roseneath man is facing multiple charges after a late-night traffic stop Tuesday led to an impaired driving arrest.
According to police, the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on June 24, 2025, after officers observed a vehicle run a red light at the intersection of Elgin Street West and Rogers Road in Cobourg. Police conducted a traffic stop and, during the investigation, formed grounds to believe the driver had consumed alcohol.
The driver failed a roadside screening test and was subsequently arrested for impaired operation. Following further investigation, police say the man was also found to have cannabis readily available in the vehicle, as well as an open container of liquor.
The 24-year-old is charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), Red Light – Fail to Stop, Driving a Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available, and Driving a Motor Vehicle with an Open Container of Liquor.
He was released on an Undertaking and issued a Provincial Offences Notice with a future court date. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for seven days.
