The Town of Cobourg has confirmed that there will be no road closures or power interruptions on King Street West this weekend following the successful completion of the first phase of its culvert replacement project.
According to the Public Works and Engineering Division, crews worked overnight to install the northern half of the new culvert. Staff were on site through the evening and morning to assist residents needing transportation accommodations to and from their homes.
Originally, intermittent electrical service and road closures were anticipated for September 12 and 13, but the completion of this phase of the project means traffic and power will not be affected at this time.
The town says a second phase of work, which will replace the southern half of the culvert on King Street West, will be scheduled in the coming weeks. Details will be provided to residents ahead of that stage.
In addition, a water service disruption will be required to complete a watermain connection associated with the project. More information on the timing of that disruption will also be released when available.
Municipal officials thank residents for their continued patience and understanding as the infrastructure upgrades continue on one of Cobourg’s key west-end corridors.
